The Best Crane Attachments for Tower Cranes

The best crane attachments for tower cranes make the most of the investment in the crane and the people for the job. They speed up the operations and give a return on the investment that goes into the whole job. Often purchasers look at the price to buy and don’t consider the operational costs. They deliver safety when other means fail to deliver an engineered solution. And they innovate. Let’s take a look at the crane attachments that make the most of tower cranes and the jobs they do.

Skip Pan Operations

Skip pan operations have traditionally required that people work with the skip pan. It might be that they have to change the rigging attachments to get the pans to dump out waste. It might be that they have to get into dumpsters to function latches or change the rigging. In each case, you have an operation where the human needs to be involved on the skip pan side. This is a hazard for the person on the ground.

Traditional Skip Pan operations - On dumpsters exposed to 8’ falls.

Not only that, you are waiting for the rigger/signal person to get to the dumpster while you have a $500 per hour operation going on with the crane. If you automate the skip, you eliminate:

  1. Time loss @ $500 per hour.

  2. Human exposure to injury by shifting pan.

  3. Fall Hazards in some operations.

  4. Unseen rigging damage or errors.

Savings with Skip Pans

With Eichinger’s Automated Skip Pans, the savings over the years at two minutes per lift cycle will dramatically add up. If you had two trash runs per day-

4 minutes per day at $8.33 per minute = $33.32 per day.

5 days a week = $166.6

52 weeks in a year = $8663.20 per skip pan.

If you add up these savings over 25 years, the savings per skip pan can be over 200k without accounting for inflation. So when your buyer is looking to save $1000, they are really costing you hundreds of thousands of dollars per unit in operations and keeping your workers exposed to safety hazards at the same time.

Best Concrete Buckets for Tower Cranes

The Best Concrete Buckets for Tower Cranes is something we certainly have at Eichigner. We have more than 1000 options in concrete buckets at Eichinger. Let’s see what options are right to deliver the best concrete bucket for your tower crane operations.

Round Concrete Buckets

Our Standard Round Concrete Buckets are like any other brand. Up to 2.6 yards as low loading buckets. The designs have basically been dialed in between all of the brands. We have the benefit of fork pockets built into our designs as an option. Where we stand out is in the delivered price. Even with a 25% tariff intended to harm us, our concrete buckets can be delivered at a lower price point than our competitors. We have delivered a container of 6 units for as little as $4900 per bucket with a chute and fork pockets. If you buy in volume from us, we can deliver the savings with a bucket that is as capable as anyone else’s. We just have to manage the shipping costs with volume. Even without managing those costs, we deliver at prices below what you find on the retail market.

Combination Concrete Buckets

Our 1032 to 1037 concrete buckets deliver a variety of combinations that deliver exactly the bucket you are looking for for any operation. The 1032 comes with a geared gate, chute, and tremie hose that can be sized from 6” to 12” diameters. You can also get them with fork pockets or as a closed base. The benefit of a fork pocket with a tower crane is you can free up the tower crane and clean the bucket or prep it without involving the tower crane. You can also use them to deal with the back pours. Stem walls under a slab. Closure strips on a PT deck. Adding fork pockets allows you to use the telehandler with a potentially large bucket instead of buggies and slick lines.

Other Combination Concrete Buckets

The Combination Concrete Bucket we sell the most is the Model 1034. The gate is replaceable. It comes with a tremie or levered gate. We can add a reversible chute if it’s desired. The orientation of the legs can be altered as well to make the most of the chute and lever orientation for your operations. And we go from a half yard bucket to 5.2 yards as a standing or laydown version of this bucket. For operations where you have a large tower crane with 20 tons of capacity or even more with today’s cranes used on high-rise or civil projects, we can deliver a bucket that can stop the need for a placing boom tower being built into the building, saving you hundreds of thousands of dollars and space. Or if you are needing to pay for a pump truck over and over when you can just use the crane and a bucket, you can potentially save thousands of dollars per day.

Whatever type of pour you are doing, Eichinger will have the solution that you need. Reach out if you need some guidance on how we can help. We have decades of field experience as well.

The Best Crane Loading Platforms

The Best Crane Loading Platforms for tower crane operations come from Eichinger. No one has more options. When you are moving items to a floor on a highrise that has other floors above it, you’ll need a crane loading platform to make it efficient. We have the most capacity for a retractable crane deck, and the widest options available on the market.

Retractable Crane Deck Options

Our retractable crane decks options include.

7’ to 13’-7” wide.

Welded or Modular Designs

Posts from 7 to 10’ tall as standard. Options up to 26’ tall for tall floors.

17’ of outboard reach.

11,000 lbs of capacity where others offer around half of that when fully extended.

End gates to accomodate long loads.

Fully enclosed sides to stop the dropped items from falling to the ground.

For sale. You can own the tool.

Get it powder coated in your colors.

When your crane operations are costing that $500 an hour or more, why would you compromise with a deck that doesn’t deliver safety and production? I’ve had conversations with contractors that are working with decks that are unsafe and obviously damaged. Or they have to tie off and have multiple people protect the floors and move slowly with the crane because of tight space. We can eliminate these.

You’ll own the decks for 30 years. Why live with subpar operations tools when you can just own the right tool and get the job done quickly. If you compare ownership to rentals ($2500 per month?) add up to over $800,000 over the life of a single crane loading platform.

Fixed Crane Decks Deliver Savings

Fixed Crane Decks end up saving you money in the purchase process. You give up the ability to retract the decks in a storm. You can’t line up the decks and need to stagger their position. And you have less outboard reach at 13’ versus 17’. If you can live with these compromises, we can halve the cost of each deck at purchase. And the weight of the decks is about 3000 lbs less if your crane might be pushed on it’s capacity. You still get:

  1. 11,000 lbs of capacity on the deck.

  2. Inboard gates so the outer gates can open while fall protection is maintained for the floor.

  3. Go up to 12’ wide.

  4. Include fall arrest on the posts.

  5. They fold and stack for shipping.

  6. Fork pockets built in so you know where the center of gravity is.

  7. We can manufacture these as modular for easy transport.

Whether it’s a fixed or retractable, we have all of the thrust out deck options you need at Eichinger. You can deliver the most production and safety with our solutions. Returns are massive versus rentals. You can advertise your name instead of someone else’s be it your concrete company or rental company.

Safety, production, savings and the right tool for the job. It’s what we bring to your tower crane operations at Eichinger. Can we save you $1,000,000 per deck versus what you are doing today? I bet we can.

Fork Pockets. Stacking legs. Fall arrest. Inner doors. It’s got everything you need.

Stacks for easy shipping. Keeps it all contained.

Moving Materials for Plumbing, Electrical, or Landscaping Options

Traditionally, Moving Materials for Plumbers or Electricians leads to compromises. The same is true for contractors moving landscaping to roofs for today’s roof gardens. Eichinger can get you purpose built tools that will enable these operations to be handled easily.

When I was a tower crane operator, we’d have to move rock for plumbers and electricians. The aggregate materials instead of dirt allows for drainage and small movements in the pipes and conduits for a good long life. The challenge is that when you look around a job site, what are you going to move the product in with? If you can get a tiller truck to the area, then you are likely covered. But sometimes you need to use the crane. So people will try to fill a round concrete bucket with rock and find themselves pulling rigging out of the way and spilling half of their efforts. But what if you had a rectangle option so the front buckets of a skid steer, back hoe, or a front end loader can make quick work of it?

Rectangle concrete buckets can be great for moving materials. Look at that full width gate.

Clamshells are purpose built for delivering rock, sand, soils, or bark to the right spot.

Landscape Clamshell Buckets are amazing at this task. You load them with the rigging just dropped down and moved aside. The width of the loader bucket can be tailored to match the clamshell where you can move up to 2.6 yards at a time. Set the clamshell down. Release the locking lever. When you hoist up again, it empties out the whole contents of the clamshell quickly, but with some control if you hoist up slowly. Move a dump truck worth of landscaping materials with these in as little as four lift cycles. It’s efficient!

Rectangle Materials Buckets with a gate are another level of control and speed. Double the capacity of the clamshell and get up to 5.2 yards. You’ll have a gate that can be as wide as 4.5 feet for coverage and speed. As wide as this is, nothing will ever get stuck. These are heavy duty enough to even be used for concrete. They load low at 62 inches even at 5.2 yards. A concrete truck wouldn’t even need ramps to work with it. A skid steer can easily reach over even the largest of these to load it up. And the control of the gate allows you to surgically place the materials with full control. You can even get these with a remote and a vibrator. If they are used for concrete at 5 yards, you’ll want the remote due to the loading and drag on the gate. A Geared gate is the only manual option we would recommend if these are to be used for concrete operations. For materials other than concrete, you can still function the gate manually. As a cost, these are reasonably priced too.

Pallet Lifting Options at CraneGear

Pallet Lifting Options at CraneGear from Eichinger are numerous. There is a solution available for just about anything. Let’s take a look at what we can do for you.

When it comes to pallet forks, we do them manually, self leveling, telescoping, fixed, and even self leveling with a net which is a new solution to North America. I don’t believe that anyone has more options in crane forks than CraneGear.net

Pallet Bins are the Pinnacle of Safety in Pallet Hoisting

Pallet Bins surround the load in structural steel and eliminate to possibility of items falling out. You have steel below. Steel on the sides. And the attachment is above the center of gravity on a four point lift. It’s nearly impossible for anything to fall out. We do these with gates or a ramp system. In single or two pallets. At 3300 or 6600 lbs. You can get them with castors as well. And they have fork pockets. You can load it with a forklift to eliminate crane time in doing so. Then you can use the crane to lift two pallets at a time saving crane cycles. Cranes can be $500 an hour as a cost and the heart of production on a job. Using a forklift for the tasks of loading the bins can save $300 or more per hour.

CraneGear 1058 Pallet Bin.

We also have other bins set up for hoisting materials or pallets at a time. The Universal Skip Pan is the size of a pallet. If you are lifting pallet sized items over and over, these can be a quick way to hook in and go. Castors, forklift, or by crane. Move it how it’s best for you. These are rated at 4400 lbs. Instead of running slings through a pallet and crossing your fingers as so many contractors do, you can just hook in and go. Like other crane operations, saving time at $500 per hour can mean that two minutes saved can yield $16.50. That’s quite easy to do if you consider the time to put the slings on, adjust them, then remove them versus hooking in four hooks and just sending it.

Keep it Simple Too

We can also help you maintain similar gear to what you have had, but find savings. Some Equipment Managers like simple gear. They don’t want to deviate far from what they know. And we have gear that will get you there too.

Our Round Concrete Buckets at two yards are virtually exactly what you have known in the US. But we don’t charge as if we are the only game in town. Our 2 yard Round Concrete buckets with chute can be sold for $3000 from the factory. We do need to ship it. Is that a $500 cost as a part of a container, or a $3000 cost Ala Carte coming from Germany? In either case, it’s quite a bit less than the $8000 to $9000 our US competitors will charge.

1091 up to 2.5 yards. Fork pocket optional. Reversible chute.

Simple Skip Pans

We also offer Simple Skip Pans that function on four lifting eyes with two below for dumping out the bins. If you just want something durable that will last decades, this might be it. While I’m always eager to sell you a self dumping bin to keep your people out of dumpsters, if saving a few bucks it a better choice, then our 1046 Skip Pans will do the trick. They are durable. A 2.6 yard version from others in the US would cost $6,000 to $10,000. As a sale from the factory, we would be at $2000 (Ex Works) for our 1046 2.6 yard skip pans. Even shipped we are looking at $4400 to most locations in the US. You can save $1500 a unit from the lowest prices you’ll find in North America. But you give up nothing in capacity or quality.
