New Crane Loading Platforms by Eichinger
Crane Loading Platforms serve the important purpose of loading and unloading items larger than the construction hoist on to highrise buildings during the construction phase. Eichinger has been manufacturing Crane Loading Platforms for decades. We recently were asked to make a few modifications to the Static Crane Decks we manufacture to enable safety benefits for the contractor. We have completed the design of these decks and are ready to release them to the market. Let’s take a look at what the changes are and how they can help you.
There are a few issues that can happen that make it difficult to land items on a crane loading platform with the end gates closed. When you open the end gates, you create a fall hazard. This means that you need to have someone utilize fall arrest. And when you open the gates, you create a fall hazard for everyone on the floor as you break the security of the handrails in place. We can fix that.
Common practice with Crane Loading Platforms
Our Crane Loading Platform solution to fall arrest and protection challenges are quite simple.
Provide fall arrest at roughly the mid back level on the Static Crane Deck.
Provide Interior gates so you can open the outer gates, and not expose the floor to a break in the fall protection, ie handrails.
Anchorage on the posts. Interior gates in place.
Fall Arrest Built into Our Crane Loading Platforms
With Fall Arrest built into our Crane Loading Platforms, we always have a way for your people to be safe. They no longer need to have fall arrest sorted out for each floor while the deck is in place. It’s there. If the contractors set it up with a 30’ retractable on the anchorage, there will always be a suitable means to tie off when they need to open the end gates. And there is an anchorage on each side of the deck.
Added Fall Protection on our Static Crane Loading Platforms
Having the added fall protection in the interior gate is another great step forward. Some decks don’t even have fall protection in end gates and just provide a net. We find this woefully inadequate. We prefer to prevent the accident from occurring versus preventing the death after the accident has occurred.
Closing the interior gates keeps your people out of harms way by blocking them from the fall essentially entirely. You can rest assured that you have provided 100% fall protection with Eichinger.
Easier Logistics Built Into Our Crane Decks
Logistics can be a challenge when it’s not planned for. In my tower crane days, we’d bring skill saws because you never knew how you were going to have to cut boards to make the logistics of stacking parts together work on a given day. We’ve designed our Static Crane Decks to eliminate this issue.

Optional Widths For Static Crane Loading Platforms
The widths we have available for Static Crane Decks from Eichinger are numerous. If you prefer narrow versions for ease of handling, or going wide so you can maximize the loads or the crane time, we can help Our sizes go up to 11’ - 5” wide on the outside. The inside of the decks are 14” narrower. This means that you can have 10’ of interior space. Given that’s wider than what is conventionally legal to carry on a truck, it will make it easy to load the items quickly.

Custom Colors
I have yet to meet a contractor that didn’t want to advertise their names and shout it from above. When you rent crane decks, you end up advertising someone else’s name. If you have a subcontractor supply them, you’ll do the same. If we supply you a Crane Loading Platform, we can deliver it in your colors so you can make the logo look great with your name. What’s even better is that most of the time these decks are perpendicular to the roads. It’s thousands of people a day that will see your name on the project. What’s even better, you’ll only pay basically the same as what you would pay to rent the decks. My career was in tower cranes. I’ve seen contractors pay more for crane signs than they pay us to buy a crane deck. Owning the Outrigger Deck also saves you the cost of the rental. So why not own them?
