Shipyards & Crane Rated Items

Shipyards use cranes to lift items regularly. Having crane rated lifters is not just a good idea, it’s a requirement. At Eichinger we meet the ISO standards that include ASME B30.20 for Below the Hook Items. Our vast catalogs can serve Shipyards well with regard to supplying safe and effective crane attachments. Our products serve shipyards around the world. If you are not currently using Eichinger, we should take a moment to see what we can do for your operations and safety standards.

Loading up a Ship

Items going in to a ship or supplies to install items is a never ending task. How are you safely lifting items with cranes today? Often teams are using slings on bins that aren’t rated. So what’s between the sling and the load being lifted? What’s it rated for. If you had any of our bins, you would know with certainty. More than that, hooking it is faster than using slings. And it removes several levels of human error potential. It even allows you to lift above the center of gravity so if an item inside of the bin shifts, it cannot roll out.

1058 Pallet Bin for palletized items. Retains everything even if load becomes unstable.

Gas Bottle Racks hold up to six gas bottles at a time. The bottles are locked in place and lifted above the center of gravity.

Waste Removal At Shipyards

Waste Removal can be done several ways at Eichinger. We are set up to do this with cranes, forklifts or telehandlers. Many of our items can work with both. In any case, Eichinger is often the best option to remove waste. Let me show you how.

Eichinger Semi Automatic Crane Skip Pan ease of use.

Our Drop Bottom Bins are crane rated, and forklift ready. Fly it to the forklift loading zone and take it away with any forklift.

Telehandler Tippers lock on to forklift tines automatically. They can also have crane lifting eyes so they can be used in multiple ways.

We also have conventional forklift tippers that can be on castors and have crane lifting eyes. We do these up to 6.3 yards.

Pallet Hoisting In Shipyards with Eichinger Options

Lifting Pallets is a challenge in Shipyards just as it is in Construction. I would suggest a bin is the best solution. But we have many options at Eichinger to address this task. Many of our solutions have never been seen in the US. Let’s take a look at the solutions we have.

1058 Double Pallet Bin

Our 1058.2 Double Pallet Bin is available as a double gate system, or with a ramp on one end that makes pallet jacking the pallets in and out an option. The double pallet bin cuts the lift cycles in half for the crane time. They also give you a larger capacity than our single bins. These are rated at 6600 lbs.

1058.1 Single Pallet Bin

The 1058.1 Crane Pallet Bins are rated at 3300 lbs and lift palletized items. They can be set up with a gate or a ramp. Lifting above the center of gravity and wrapping it all in a steel cage makes lifting safer. The ASME B30.20 rated bin will also deliver safety factors and compliance to regulations is just about every area of North America. These are also set up with fork pockets so they can be transported to, or away from the crane easily as well.

1054 Crane Pallet forks

We also have a large variety of Crane Pallet Forks. These are our most common versions, the 1054’s. These are self leveling crane forks that find the center of gravity with a spring system and an internal trolley system. If the load is 25% of the rated capacity, it will cause the trolley to run just past the center of that gravity due to the spring rate. This will keep the pallet level and provide a steel structure to lift the pallet with.

These are available to 6600 lbs. You can get them as a manual version as well. A chain is provided to secure items back to the mast of the forks as a safety device.

1056 Crane Forks Self leveling rated up to 6600 lbs with a safety net

Our 1056 Crane Forks are designed to accommodate a net system so items can be protected from falling to the ground once lifted. If a load is not well secured, or if the load can strike anything, it can quickly become destabilized on a crane fork. The net is there to catch items from falling to the ground where workers could be injured. These are required in the UK when lifting a pallet with forks. Lift the pallet a couple of feet off of the ground, then you can place the net around the entire load and keep it retained with the lifted items. It’s a solution you won’t find in North America, except with Eichinger and CraneGear.net
