Lifting Baskets for Cranes
Our 1313 Lifting Baskets are great for cranes and forklifts. They are rated at 3300 lbs and come in a variety of sizes. We provide a certificate stating they comply with ASME B30.20. Not only is this true, they exceed OSHA 1926.251 in that instead of a 125% load test, we load test to the full 3:1 safety factor in the prototype phase. It’s just the German way. Let’s go look at what other advantages we have in our Materials Lifting Baskets model 1313.
Crane Material Basket
Hoisting items by crane on a job site can be done so many ways. Until 2025, people would look away from 1926.251 in the OSHA regulations that requires all lifters to be rated. They would instead use wood boxes. ASME B30.20 recently added “Load containers” to their list of covered items. This means a national consensus standard is requiring a rating explicitly for all material baskets that are lifted by crane. This is one of our viable options. The mesh sides contain all items larger than the mesh. It allows air to move through so items can dry out as well preventing rust and mold issues. These are set up to work with solid side bins of the same numbers. They stack and can fly together presuming the weight on the lower bin total is not above the lifter rating. IE, both bins weight total of less than 3301 lbs. While they may not have fork pockets, there is also ample room to get them on forks and lift that way. We also have castors available that bolt on to allow them to roll on hard surfaces.
German Quality Lifting Basket
Our bins are manufactured equipment at state of the art standards. Laser tube cutters cut the tubes to precision length cleanly enough that no preparation is needed after the cut is made in seconds. This keeps the quality and capacity repeatable. The material quality of the individual parts is excellent. The wire mesh is heavy gauge. The bottom plate is corrugated so provides diaphragm properties and if damaged, the damage is often stopped at the next corrugated section. We also use a third party to review the engineering and testing of our bins. The certified welders we use also do a great job of welding the steel together for us.
Options
These Materials Lifting Baskets for Cranes can be optioned with a swing out door or as a solid side. The 1/3 door allows you to access the items while the baskets are stacked. The standard order would be for painted Lifting Baskets. If you work in a hard environment, we can zinc dip them for a longer life under the galvanization. It’s my preference to have the lifting rings versus the welded on lifting posts. I believe the positive connection is the right choice. If you disagree, please be sure to specifically request that hook so I don’t order you the lifting link.
Safety Equipment That is Essential
Lifting pallets and boxes without knowing how many lbs it’s good for violates OSHA code, and is just a dangerous practice. Reach out to us and we’ll find the right baskets to help you lift any material. If we need to work on the size or capacity, we have options. Square, rectangle, tall, low, ramps or gates, we have ways to help you find efficiency in your operations. Industry, marine or construction we’ll have the options you need to complete any of your jobs. Reach out at sales@cranegear.net if you have any specific questions.
Shipping
When you choose what size of bins you need, we should quote these as opposed to offering shipping per unit. If a person is ordering a number of these, we can get as many as 66 in a 40’ container. To most US ports, this would put shipping at around $100 per unit. How they are ordered and the sizes chosen will determine that all too critical price per unit. But it is accurate to say that your landed cost per unit can be $500 to $600 per unit for a crane rated basket that meets ASME for every state usage, and it has built in lifting points so you no longer need to sling up the load at $400 per hour. Over the life of the bin, we deliver more in operational savings than you’ll think of spending on the basket. Reach out at sales@cranegear.net and let’s take a look at the shipping. I should note, the price shown already has the tariff factored in.
