Tall Posts on Crane Loading Platforms

When a client presents a problem, manufacturers do well to listen. A client building a hospital in Dallas needed to be able to reach up to 26’ with the posts on a retractable crane loading platform. So they called me and asked me to come see if we could solve it. We could. And we did. I present the tallest posts I know of on a crane loading platform. Delivered by Eichinger and Crane Gear.

Crane Loading Platform Posts

Crane Loading Platforms commonly have posts for 10’ tall floors. If we need to go taller, options are added on jobsites to accommodate the needs. Other shoring posts. Beams to add height. There are a number of approaches used. We now have the option to provide alternate posts for nominal costs that have range options. We can provide them by job. Alternatively we can offer posts that go from 7 to 10’. 10 to 18’. or 15 to 26’. In the scope of things, these aren’t even expensive. $1250 for a set of four. When you see what you get for the amount of steel and fabrication, it becomes difficult to be anything but impressed with what Eichinger delivers.

The posts of our Crane Loading Platform pushed up on the 16’ tall ceiling.

Benefits of Retractable Loading Platforms

Retractable Loading Platforms have a couple of benefits over fixed platforms. Most importantly, they move out of the way. When you have 15 stories that you need to load up, there are commonly operations going on all of the floors that haven’t been enclosed with exterior panels yet. Items need to come in and out. If you can enclose most of the floor and leave just a single run of space for the decks to work in, you can start to dry in spaces and get interior work done more quickly while still having access for large items coming in and out. If you have just fixed decks, they have to stagger so you can leave access for the crane to reach them. Otherwise the crane can only reach the top deck.

Retractables also get out of the wind when the weather is coming in. You can mitigate wind exposure to the decks and virtually eliminate any dangers for the decks as a storm passes. With fixed decks you need to get them down early, or come up with ways to lock them down.

Exposed surface of a Retractable Deck should be 4’ or less.

Let’s Build Your Decks for Your Future

Invest in your future. Renting decks costs you hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sometimes each year if you are doing multiple projects. Buying four Retractable Decks can cost 120k by the time you ship and pay a tariff that is a moving target in the US, but our latest shipment faced a 12.9% tariff that we believe we can replicate every time. If you rent four decks and pay mobilization fees, this is about a year of rental on Crane Loading Platforms. But we’ll have sold them to you. You can use them for 30 years at our price. And with your name on the deck advertising all day. If you buy four fixed decks, we might be talking about 70k as the delivered cost. Again, 30 years or so of service. You can rent and pay easily 30x that price with inflation. Why anyone does that, I’m not sure. We want to just deliver a deck that works and keeps delivering for a whole career worth of returns.

We’ll be here when you are ready to invest in yourself and your future.
