Man Basket on a Concrete Bucket. We Actually Have That.

This is just a bit entertaining from a North American perspective. Eichinger works all over the world. Yesterday I got a Request For Quote from Singapore. In a given month we have visitors from probably 150 countries. One of the items we have causes me to wonder, “Where could I sell this?”

This is a concrete bucket called a Model 1016. We manufacture this model from a quarter yard to 10.8 yards that are 13’ tall. Just load the whole truck in and let’s go. Fork Pockets, remote controls… It’s a versatile concrete bucket. The most unique configuration is with a man basket on the side. You could ride along and control the gate as you go. I just wish that I knew where it was used. It’s in the catalog, so presumably there was an application and a location that allowed it to be used. I genuinely would need to control myself from not opening the gate rhythmically to get the crane bouncing. This would be fun. Even better if you could hand me the remote for the tower crane so I could run it all from the single location.

My career had me meandering through the tower crane world. Part of it was inspection. Part of it was crane ownership. No tower crane that I’m aware of would allow this to be done. North America would be a hard no on this. The crane forbidding riders in many cases would cover it. But where governments look away, this would be fun. If you’ve never been under the hook of a crane in a man basket, and specifically under a tower crane, you might be surprised to learn that it feels like a quiet helicopter ride minus the tail rotor being pushed around in the wind. You are lifted from the top and it it pendulums just like a helicopter does because of weather. You pick up and burn off speed the same way too where you lean forward as you are picking up pace, and lean back as you come to a stop. There are honestly only small nuanced differences.

I bring this bucket up for entertainment. It exists. I’ll sell it to you. I won’t say that it’s legal to use. But it’s certainly ok to own it.
